Homeless Connect opens doors for homeless and at-risk Edmontonians
Media are invited to attend the sixth Homeless Connect Edmonton, a broad-based community-inspired initiative, providing free appropriate services to homeless people and those at risk of becoming homeless, on one day and at one location. 80 services will be available free of charge to guests.
Date: Sunday, May 15, 2011
Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Halls A, B & C, Shaw Conference Centre (9797 Jasper Avenue)
Edmonton Transit Services will offer free rides to guests and volunteers, to and from the event. Guests have access to services such as haircuts, dentistry, eye-care, counseling, pre-natal support, laundry, employment services and housing information. Every guest receives a care package which includes personal care products.

- Homeless Connect Edmonton co-chairs, Dave McNaughton, income support specialist for Regional Support Services and
- Colette Ries, managing director, Industry & Tourism Services for Edmonton Economic Development Corporation
Media are instructed to go to the information table when they arrive. There may also be opportunities for media to shadow guests and volunteers. Guests who do not wish to be photographed will be wearing a neon yellow sticker. We ask everyone to respect this. If interested, please inquire at the media table.
