Homeless Connect
What is Homeless Connect?
Homeward Trust, in partnership with United Way, the Shaw Conference Centre, and Edmonton Economic Development Corporation opens their doors for the annual Homeless Connect event on May 15th and October 16th.
Homeless Connect is a community event that brings organizations and volunteers together with Edmonton’s homeless.
Volunteers provide the homeless with a variety of services including haircuts, dentistry, eye-care, counseling, pre-natal support, internet access, laundry and a warm meal.
Through this community collaboration, Homeless Connect hopes to open doors out of homelessness. By building lasting partnerships and raising public awareness, we are all taking the first steps needed to keep those doors open.
What other services are provided?
Homeless Connect provides a variety of other services including information on employment opportunities, housing support, mental assessments, library services and immunizations.
Where will Homeless Connect be held?
The Shaw Conference Centre generously donated 80,000 square feet of meeting space for Homeless Connect. The Shaw also donated the staffing levels Homeless Connect needs to be successful in May and October.
What is the cost for these services?
There is no cost for the services provided at Homeless Connect.
Is Homeless Connect a new initiative in the city?
Great community involvement and commitment from our volunteers made Homeless Connect a great success for the last two years.
Last year over 1,000 guests attended, 400 people volunteered, and they received donations from 50 organizations.
