Every year we get to hear special stories from our nominees, stories that capture the spirit of the YWE program. That spirit continues to drive this program into its 12th year.

We thought it would be special to share some of those stories with you.  

Tour Guide Winner

Sarah Dunning accepted her You’re Welcome Award in the Tour Guide category at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. Working as a Historical Interpreter and tour guide, Sarah excels at explaining Alberta’s Ukrainian heritage by ensuring a high-level of customer satisfaction and enjoyment.

Her positive attitude is infectious among visitors and co-workers. Sarah’s dedication to the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village is admirable, making her a real asset to the team.  

Volunteer Winner

Deanna Kempster received her You’re Welcome Award in the Volunteer category at McQueen Place Lodge. Volunteering for almost 10 years, Deanna enjoys making friendly conversation with all of the residents. And every Thursday she serves lodge residents ice cream in the dining room.

Deanna is a kind and gentle woman who has a big heart for seniors; it shines through with every smile and caring touch she gives. Lodge staff are thankful to have such a wonderful volunteer and friend on their team.
