April 2, 2008 - Edmonton’s main visitor info centre voted No.1 in Alberta

Jasper, Camrose and Pigeon Lake also win RVwest reader awards

Edmonton’s Gateway Park Visitor Information Centre (VIC), on the south side of Edmonton accessible from Highway No. 2 northbound and southbound, has been awarded top honours for the second-straight year by RVwest magazine.

The second annual RVwest Readers Choice Awards had 24 award categories. Edmonton’s Gateway Park VIC was again voted “favourite visitor information centre in Alberta” by the popular Cranbrook B.C.-based publication.

Edmonton Tourism's professional VIC staff help stimulate many economic dividends by encouraging regional visitors to stay longer.

“Edmonton’s Gateway VIC plays a pivotal role in promoting Greater Edmonton’s $1 billion-plus tourism industry,” says Ken Fiske, Vice-President, Tourism, Events and Motion Pictures for Edmonton Economic Development Corp. “Our committed VIC staff is very proud to have their exemplary customer service acknowledged by RV travellers.”

West Edmonton Mall

"For something entirely different, a trek to Edmonton is definitely in order. The West Edmonton Mall, known as the largest indoor mall in the world, is an over-the-top experience that draws more visitors to Alberta than any other attraction in the province. The surreal shopping, eating, and entertainment arena is shoulder-to-shoulder with customers during the winter chill. Not only is it an architectural marvel with its domed curved glass ceiling, the larger-than-life complex boasts its own waterpark, amusement park, bungee tower, daily sea lion show, as well as mall hotel called the Fantasyland Hotel".
