Sept. 8-11, 2008 - The 1st World Conference of Women's Shelters
Family violence workers in Alberta and throughout the world have the opportunity to network, hear international speakers, share experiences and support one another at this four-day conference. Discovering the Common Core: Practical Frameworks for Change will initiate change in organizations and communities to better meet the needs of different ethnocultural, multicultural and racial communities when dealing with family violence. Sept. 8, 2008 – Rancid
One of the cornerstone bands of the ‘90s punk revival, Rancid will kick off their North American tour at the Shaw Conference Centre. This all-ages show features Canada’s own DOA. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.ca.
Sept. 10, 2008 - Wine Tasting with Pascal Madevon of Osoyoos Larose
Join winemaker Pascal Madevon at this special tasting highlighting the wines of Osoyoos Larose Vineyards. Included in this exclusive tasting will be: Le Grand Vin 2004, 2005, as well as a preview of the unreleased Le Grand Vin 2006, and components of the yet-to-be created 2007. Sept. 12, 2008 – KO Boxing presents Live Boxing at the Shaw

Sept. 12-13, 2008 – Helping Hands Across Canada
The Canadian Society of Hand Therapists invites all physical and occupational therapists with a special interest in hand injuries to this two-day conference. Sept. 13, 2008 – The Consumer’s Choice Award Gala
This awards initiative is presented by the Consumers’ Choice Institute (Canada). The winners are determined by consumers surveyed throughout Canada. Sept. 13-14, 2008 – The Edmonton Cat Fanciers Club Fall Cat Show

Sept. 17, 2008 – FEASTival of Fine Chefs
This sold-out event is a celebration of Alberta’s food service industry and includes a silent auction with proceeds in support of The Stan Ballard Endowment Fund (which supports chef certificate programs in Alberta’s post-secondary training institutions).
