Edmonton Tourism wins international marketing award!
—Winter campaign is recognized by International Economic Development Council
Edmonton Tourism, a division of Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC) has won an impressive marketing award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for its 2008-2009 winter campaign. The honour was bestowed at the Excellence in Economic Development Awards, part of IEDC’s annual conference wrapping up today in Reno, Nevada.
IEDC’s Excellence Awards recognize the world’s best economic development programs and partnerships, marketing materials, and the year’s most influential leaders. Edmonton Tourism won in the category of ‘Best Paid Advertising Campaign.’
"Furthering economic development in the best of times is rarely a simple task. Advancing the cause in the midst of a global recession is nothing less than arduous," says Ian Bromley, IEDC chair. “We’re proud to present this award to Edmonton Tourism for its superior work during these difficult financial times."
“We’re delighted for this recognition of Edmonton Tourism and our industry partners” says Jenifer Christenson, EEDC’s Executive Director of External Relations. “This campaign was an industry-led effort which targeted the rubber-tire market during the winter months.”
Edmonton Tourism launched the winter campaign in partnership with Destination Marketing Hotels, industry partners, Husky Oil, Travel Alberta and the Edmonton & Area Tourism Destination Region. It ran from late fall 2008 through to the end of February, 2009.
