Event: Sustainable Style luncheon and eco-fair

Date & Time: Thursday, July 30, 2009 – 12 p.m.
"Sustainable Style" will highlight the efforts of SCC staff to create a culture of environmental sustainability and will also focus on further developing awareness of sustainability initiatives at the SCC and within the Greater Edmonton community.
Five local businesses incorporating environmental vision and business practices will also be part of the eco-fair. Representatives from Earth's General Store, Gruuvy Roomz, Lucid Lifestyle, Mountain Equipment Co-Op and St. City Roasters of St. Albert will display products and be on hand to talk about the buy local movement and the importance of supporting businesses that display an environmental conscience.
Managed by Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC), the SCC is a community leader and innovator in the adoption of green initiatives. Following the highly successful ICLEI World Congress, Edmonton City Council formally acknowledged the Shaw Conference Centre for its efforts to develop Edmonton’s Green Advantage – reducing its own carbon footprint while giving event organizers the opportunity and ability to reduce the environmental impact of their own events through such tools as the ECO Report Card and Green Meetings Guide.
