NMID is celebrated across Canada in recognition of the significant role played by the meetings and
events industry and is also meant to communicate its value to the broader business community and
various levels of government. According to the most recent Statistics Canada figures, an estimated
360,000 people visited Edmonton and area in 2007 for at least one day for the main purpose of meetings conventions and conferences.
All proceeds from this year’s NMID breakfast will go to Edmonton’s Food Bank for its Second Helping Food Recovery Program. The food recovery program is a collection of innovative systems that takes healthy food deemed surplus and unsellable by food industry standards and redirects it onto tables of people who need it.
This breakfast event is co-hosted by the Shaw Conference Centre (SCC), Edmonton Tourism and the
Greater Edmonton Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI).
